Quick Troubleshooting Guide for Blow Molding Machines: A Comparison of Causes and Solutions

2025-10-31

Production failures often stem from parameter imbalances or component wear and tear. Below are solutions for frequently encountered issues:

Feeding and Material Supply Malfunctions
If the material level is not being replenished: First, check the hopper's material level—replenish if it’s empty. If the elevator contactor is energized but not running, it’s likely due to a bottle preform getting stuck on the lifting belt, requiring manual assistance to reset it. If the contactor has lost power, adjust the position of the detection photoelectric eye to ensure it aligns properly with the reflector plate.
Feed tray jamming: Prioritize using preforms of moderate length and uniform weight. If jamming persists frequently, adjust the feed tray’s tilt angle to 15–20° and carefully remove any burrs inside the tray.

Molding and Demolding Failures
The bottle cannot be removed: When the manual mold opening and closing function operates normally, check the venting time setting. If venting is abnormal, disassemble the vent valve, replacing the aged spring and seals. For occasional malfunctions, inspect whether the locking pin is blocked by foreign objects, or reduce the clamping force to the standard value (typically 10–15 MPa).
Bottle body pinch injury / Robotic arm collision: In the former case, adjust the robotic arm's position to calibrate gripping accuracy; in the latter, manually reset the robotic arm and re-establish the origin point of its motion trajectory.

Product quality defects
Bottle body corrugations: Monitor the temperature in each area of the mold to ensure the temperature difference is ≤5°C; if necessary, replace mold inserts with poor thermal conductivity.
Bottle bottom eccentricity: Reposition the preform and adjust the mold alignment accuracy.
Bottle cracking: Reduce the blowing pressure (adjust by 0.05 MPa each time), or replace the raw material if its melt flow rate fails to meet specifications.
